Our Mission

Naples Chapter Vision:  Inspire American Patriotism through programs that encourage our members and those of our community to honor our American Heritage: 

➢Our Speaker’s Bureau and America 250 historical vignette series offers presentations that honors those who served or assisted the colonies during the Revolutionary War

➢Perpetuate American ideals and traditions through community outreach activities such as the annual Public Service Awards recognizing area First Responders

➢Through annual Youth Programs that recognize local outstanding JROTC Cadets, Eagle Scouts, Sea Cadets, American History students, and the Joseph Rumbaugh Oration contest, the Naples Chapter serves to further educate young people about America’s founding principles

With 33,000+ members throughout the 50 state-level Societies and more than 500 local Chapters, the National Society Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR) is the largest male lineage society in the United States.

We are not bound by borders; as we have numerous international societies which are located in Canada, Germany, France, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Benefits of Membership

• Being an SAR member involves you in your local and national community by telling the story of the Founding Fathers and the creation of the United States of America.  It connects you to the history of the American Revolution by a direct means in tracing your lineage.  It allows you to connect with others that share similar interests.

In honoring our rich history, we, as the National Society Sons of the American Revolution:

• Commemorate people and events of the American Revolution.
• Preserve records and artifacts associated with the American Revolution. 
• We support genealogical research and presentations related to people and events from 1750 to 1800. 

In support of this effort, the National SAR magazine publishes authoritative descriptions of events and people of the American Revolution.

Our team of dedicated members assisted in creating a publicly accessible online database which provides an extensive list of Qualified Patriot Ancestors.

The Naples Chapter celebrated its 50th Anniversary on 31 March 2023.

This achievement can be credited to many people;  both those who chose to become members and certainly those who have served as its leaders.

The Naples Chapter does not exist without volunteers willing to serve in the various leadership capacities.  

We credit Compatriot William J. Porter who for several weeks in October 1972 advertised in the Naples Daily News seeking members or those interesting in becoming so, to attend a luncheon at the Holiday Inn on November 4th which he had arranged. In attendance were several State Officers and one National Officer.

At that historic meeting Compatriot Joseph H. Bishop, Jr. was elected the first President of the then “Provisional” Chapter. It is under his leadership that an application for the Naples Chapter was submitted on January 29th, 1973.

The Naples Chapter was officially Chartered by the National Society on March 31st, 1973 with a total of 43 members. A Charter banquet and installation of officers was held at the Naples Beach Club on November 3rd, 1973.

As the City of Naples and Collier County grow we expect that our membership too will grow and look forward to a prosperous future serving the community and spreading the ideals for which the Sons of the American Revolution was formed.
